{i've got my eye on these...}

...and I really, really want 'em!!!

{all images from Pottery Barn Kids}

oh my grittiness... i can hardly stand it! i can just imagine those vintage looking placemats on my white kitchen table and those cute plates on my plate rack above my pantry door and as far as the battery operated candles go... i'd have no problem scattering those all throughout my house for some added flickering spookiness! How 'bout you?

oh and if you're wonderin' where in the world i've been all this time... my computer was having serious issues for a very long time, and frankly.. i just didn't know what i wanted to write about either, but with the changing of seasons into my favorite of all & a good dose of vintage halloween goodness i'm back and feelin' grittier than ever!

{my love affair continues... with Mr. Yarn that is~}

I'm tellin' ya.. it all started with Spark! I've wanted to brush up on my crocheting skills long before that, but after going to Spark... I guess it just lit the fire within and gave me the confidence to just do it! I hear they're going to be planning a Spark No. 2!!! If you didn't go to the first one, you MUST make Spark a priority for 2010~~~ You won't regret it!

Back to Mr. Yarn, I'm so glad we've gotten so close lately.. it was so fun being able to make flower headbands with you for Christmas gifts this year. I made three for my cute babysitter and she texted me and said all of her sisters and her sister-in-law would like to know if they can buy some from me. I've thought about selling them, but it wasn't until someone actually asked if they could buy some, that I realized I really should! It's so exciting...

So... Mr. Yarn & I are asking you to spread the word, we love spending time together and really want to handcraft some warm flower fuzzies for anyone that wants to partake in their gritty goodness and not look like the rest of the girls out there wearing the EXACT SAME ONES FROM certain stores in the Mall! If you like to be different, here's your chance.. It's all about you! YOU tell me what colors you want, YOU tell me what kind you want {if you can actually settle on just one} and Mr. Yarn & I get busy just for YOU!

Warm Fuzzies & Goodies For Sale:

  • 2 strand and/or 3 strand single flower headbands, $9.50 each or 3 for $25.00- {if you want to add a second flower for the layered flower look, I'll charge only $1.00 extra per headband}.

  • wide layered flower headband/ear warmer fashioned with a button clasp $16.00 each or $14.00 each when you buy 2 or more.
  • I'm also excited to sell wide single or layered flower corsage bracelets fashioned with a button clasp. Working on one right now and will post pictures when finished!
  • single or layered flower with hair clip and broach pin to adorn whatever you can think of... your hair, your shirt, your purse, your shoes...

*I'm thinking about eventually setting up an Etsy store, but for now if you want to place an order just give me a call or email me at {sandrasosa5@gmail.com} and don't forget to spread the word locally and abroad... Mr. Yarn & I would be very flattered if someone were to walk around Iowa, Kansas or elsewhere fashioned in one of our warm flower fuzzies!

{october up 'til now...}

Whooaaa... all of October up 'til now has been filled with seasonal goodness, activities, events, long awaited visits, brushing up on and learning new skills and more.- There's so much that has inspired me throughout this time and all these experiences... My trip to visit my sista and bff Kim was much needed for all of us I think.. it was filled with grittiness & creativity, knitting/crocheting, baking & jewelry making... I was also able to attend the creative *SPARK* event just last weekend with best friends and it exceeded my hopes & wishes of what it might be like by far!

We took classes and worked on creative projects that I can hardly wait to share. I still need to finish a few.. I did finish my vintage flower makeover on a plain shirt and love it! I'm so excited to create & do much more with this skill.

I also L-O-V-E-D the photography class and have been experimenting with all the different settings on my camera & taking photos outside of "auto." This is so invigorating to me... I really enjoy capturing what's interesting to me & what I see through the lens.

We learned a technique called "sunflare" that I really like and have been having fun working with.

Sunday, I looked out the window and saw Syd and her little friend Jade out on her front lawn having a picnic on a blanket, listening to music and playing together. It was that perfect time of day for shooting photos and the setting was so natural that I decided to go out and practice and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out!
